Activities - Hiking

Hiking through the natural surrounds of Driekoppen is a totally unique experience as this is the ideal and encouraged way to interact with all facets of nature available on the Estate. We offer a choice of four different hiking routes varying in degrees of intensity and difficulty.

The routes can take the form from a brisk two hour trek to a full day’s hiking whilst savoring the sight of the game in a beautiful habitat, the ambient sound of the abundant bird life and the feel of the crisp cleanness of the air.
Whether kloofing through the narrow gorge, teeming with bird life and discovering beautiful cascades, crystal clear, spring water fed ponds, lush indigenous vegetation and even the occasional rock rabbit (dassie), or standing on the top of the imposing Spitzkop overlooking the topography, typical of the Eastern Freestate with its rolling grasslands dotted with different herds of game species, interrupted by majestic red coloured sandstone mounts with its vertical sandstone faces, there will be a hiking trail to suit any enthusiast.
As indicated elsewhere in this web page, all photographs were taken whilst hiking the terrain. This allows one to get closer to the game as it is less intrusive and the wild animals suffer less stress.
