The Vrede district is situated within the summer rainfall region. Average yearly rainfall figures are between 650 mm and 800 mm.

This area, especially the area within which Driekoppen is situated, can be described as a high altitude area. The Estate is situated between the altitudes of 1780 and 2200 meters above sea level. Summer temperatures are moderate, but temperatures during winter can be quite cold with occasional light snowfalls on the peaks of the Witkoppen range surrounding the Estate (May to June).
We are situated in a Malaria- free area.
In the months of May and June there are regular occurrences of heavy fog in the mornings. During winter, the cold evenings are very clear, making the stars look like diamonds on black velvet.
